Alfred Matshine MSTA School was started in 1991, as the first and only commercial school in Bushbuckridge, Casteel and surrounding areas.
It started by three(3) educators, namely: Mr. Bukhosini TC(Principal), Mrs. Jacobs James (Mathematics Educator), and Mr. Lebjane NW(Afrikaans Educator). The school had 91 learners that year. As years went by, the school grew to be one of the biggest schools in the region and also one of the most reputable schools in the circuit.
1995, it presented its first matriculants and it obtained the first position in the then Mapulaneng District, 15 years later it accommodated a sciences stream, at present the school is an MSTA, meaning it now offers Mathematics, Sciences and Technology. The school has since grown, with the personnel staff of 26 educators, 5 GA's and 2 admistrative staff.
